• Summer on the terraces

    April 21 2016
It might not quite be BBQ weather yet, although being British I’m sure many of us have given it a go recently, but there is a distinctly spring feel in the air and that means summer must be on the way. Naturally football isn’t necessarily associated with the summer months and therefore you may be turning your attention away from the terraces when it comes to threads. However, for me spring and the start of summer still means a lot when it comes to terrace style. I love nothing more than the last few games of the season, whether we have anything to play for or not there is always a bit of a last day of school feeling and often the sun shining which means an opportunity for some outside drinking in a decent pair of shorts and the finest new trainers. If you are lucky enough to support a side which has something to play for, May might even mean a little trip down to Wembley Way or even a European final - all of which require some decent clobber. Finally, whether you give a shit about England or not, perhaps you’re Welsh or Irish (North & South) this summer sees the Euros over in France and potentially more opportunities to ensure you don’t show yourself up style wise.

Seemingly football fans and summer style don’t seem to mix. Maybe it’s that British thing again of heavy drinking, an archaic sense of entitlement and imperialism and an inability to handle the sun which leads you to picture sunburnt beer bellies, bucket hats and blag Burberry caps dodging flying plastic patio furniture. But even the most style conscious amongst us can do silly things in the summer. The sun can get to us all. Who hasn’t been tempted by a bucket hat?

Fear not, Giancarlo Ricci have the perfect antidote to the clichéd summer football fan faux pas.

Kicking off with a decent T-Shirt, there’s an huge range to choose from, but my pick is a nice Huge Boss number. My pick is this Hugo Boss Green white T-Shirt with spot box print, it’s nice and subtle for those who prefer to flaunt their brands too much and I love the print. But there’s an absolute wealth to choose from online at Ricci. For something a bit more in your face why not go for Moschino. I’m also a fan of the Crooks & Castles range, which are great value.

Shorts can be dangerous territory and for me it’s always best to go tailored and fairly smart. Which is why my pick are these Diesel Chi Pitt Sho Chino shorts.
Again, hats can be tricky too and as much as a bucket hat can be tempting I’m inclined to stear clear and stick with a good old fashioned baseball cap. I love the simple style to the Porsche Design ones.
Finally you’ve got to get a decent pair of trainers, otherwise you may as well not bother. Diadora have had a real resurgence recently and these all white N9000MMs are perfect for summer.
But for something really special I’m also a massive fan of the Android Homme Caviar Lace Belter Runner.
So there you have it, Giancarlo Ricci have everything you need to look the part whether you’re on a sun terrace or just the terraces in the sun.
